Rules & Regulations

The purpose of the business plan competition is to raise awareness about business planning and to celebrate women entrepreneurship. The competition deadline is Monday, August 3rd. The requirements are: majority woman owned (51%), in business for six months, and net revenue not to exceed $250,000.

There is a $5,000 combined cash and prize award to the winner of the business plan competition. You must be present to win at the Annual Symposium on August 28, 2009. At the event the audience will be the judges of the top three finalists. So get your game on and get ready to submit.

The Competition will be judged by qualified business professionals ranging from business owners, bankers, and business counselors. Meet our business judges here.

Marketplace:

The Marketplace is designed to promote business knowledge and increase business sales. It is an EXPO that offers:

  • Corporations and government agencies the opportunity to meet with women business owners as prospective vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Business owners the opportunity to introduce their products/services to prospective buyers and gain information, resources, contacts, and new business.

The Marketplace will be designed as an EXPO. It will host Corporate Connections, where women businesses will meet with procurement officers from participating agencies on business opportunities. Click here to see what agencies are attending the Connections Room.

Expert Roundtable Sessions:

The roundtables will feature experts in their respective fields and provide an opportunity for learning. There will be six roundtables throughout the day ranging from topics of marketing, pricing, financial projections, state and federal policy, and access to capital. Keynote Speaker:

The Symposium will feature two public keynotes one will be policy perspective (i.e. small business is important in San Antonio and Texas) and the second will be a successful woman business owner, Nina Vaca from Dallas, Texas.
